Notes for Mary Jane Farrell
Had her own car when she arrived in Massina Iowa as teacher. This was a big deal for a single woman at the time. Was probably a V8 Ford Roadster. Was "Sporty" or "sports car" altho that term was not generally used until after the War.

Notes for Mary Jane Farrell
It was simply not done for a school teacher to “date” in a small town like Massena Iowa. Mary lived in town as a school teacher, Ed (John Edward) was the post master. They both would go to Omaha, she to the hous on G street, so they could court. Mary’s father, Daniel J Farrell b1860 did not approve of smoking, but Ed was a smoker.

Notes for John Edward (Ed) (Spouse 1)
John Edward Amdor b. 8/29/1904 (he died in 1987 - I think -
right at the Easter season) - He was sick several different years about
Easter time - I know that when he got past Easter, I always figured that
he was good for the next year-
When he was in the hospital the last time they asked if he was a smoker
- we said
yes, but not for about 15 years... The doctors would shake their heads
and say no that shouldn't do it... - Later when Pat moved to the farm,
she replaced the gas furnace and the furnace man told her that the
firebox had a hole in it. - I think that as he spent a lot of time in
the farm house during the winter, he slowly accumulated a lot of carbon
monoxide in his system and when he got past spring and was out doors and
didn't have the furnace on, he got better..
