Last week I got my father-in-law to fill me in on more of his (and my
husband's) family history. What I learned is as follows:

Daniel Joseph Farrell was born in County Cork, Ireland August 15, 1825.
He had other siblings; but, I only know that the youngest was Peter
Farrell. Daniel Joseph Farrell immigrated to the USA (date approximately
1857) and Peter Farrell remained in Ireland. The family moved from
Langford to Charlesville (now named Rath Luric) in the 1880s.

Of Peter's descendants, I know of a son named Jack Farrell born about
1871, died 1956. Jack had a son, Tom Farrell and a daughter, Kathleen
Farrell. As of 1978, both Tom and Kathleen were still living in Rath
Luric.

According to family lore, Daniel Joseph Farrell entered the USA through
New Orleans, Louisiana and migrated northward along the Mississippi
River.

At some date, either in Ireland or the USA, he married Ann Ward, born
August 15, 1832, in County Cork, Ireland. They had 6 children:
Peter (a railroad engineer);
Daniel Joseph, b. January 29, 1860, d. October 1934;
Ann, who married a Mr. Caldwell;
Elizabeth, who married Hank Cummings;
Mary, b. August 12, 1881, d. May 11, 1899; and
Andrew, b. April 7, 1871, d. April 24, 1892, from a railroad injury.

Daniel Joseph Farrell (b. January 29, 1860, in Iowa or Illinois, buried
in Omaha, Nebraska) married Nellie Elizabeth Burke (b. April 4, 1873, d.
October 11, 1960) on February 6, 1894. They had 9 children:
Helen Veronica, b. July 7, 1895, d. Sept. 8, 1970, m. John N. Ruther;
Mercedes Anne, b. Feb. 10, 1897, d. Aug. 30, 1943, m. Horter Adelbert
Dahlquist;
Kathryn Marie, b. Jan. 16, 1899, d. June, 1902;
Daniel Joseph, b. Nov. 17, 1900, d. 1980;
Baby girl, b. Feb. 4, 1903, lived 2 weeks;
William Patrick, b. June 6, 1905;
Mary Jane, b. Oct. 27, 1907, d. Sept. 29, 1952, m. Edward Amdor;
Andrew Harry, b. Mar. 18, 1910; and
Ruth Claire, b. April 28, 1915, d. July 24, 1930.

Daniel Joseph Farrell (b. Nov. 17, 1900, d. Omaha, Nebraska) married
Josephine Robert (b. Dec. 24, 1899, d. May 18, 1995, Omaha, Nebraska) on
May 26, 1926, Waterloo, Iowa. They had 2 children:
Daniel Joseph III; and
Robert Edward (my father-in-law).

Notes for Daniel Joseph Farrell
To get admittance to the US, an immigrant needed $20.
Story is that one would go across, and then send $20 back to another person. The same $20 brought in 3 folks.109
